Ing. Martin Opatrný · For universities

Fewer barriers between students and their university.

I build tools that connect to the student information system you already use. Students do not have to re-enter their details, and staff do not have to copy them across.

What you can commission

Three practical projects

We start with one process that takes up your staff's time. The first project is a small paid pilot with an agreed scope and fixed price.

CZK 1,000/hour excluding VAT

I set the pilot's fixed price after reviewing a sample of your data. You receive a written estimate of the hours before work starts. If that estimate needs to change, I tell you before doing the additional work.

A study abroad application portal

I connect applications to your student information system. Students use the information the university already holds, and the international office receives clear, complete application records.

  • Less paperwork for Erasmus+ and exchange applications
  • Fewer obstacles that prevent students from finishing an application
  • A clear overview of applications and decisions for your office

Data for leadership and accreditation

I bring reports and interactive views together in one place. The data refreshes automatically, so you do not have to rebuild the figures before every meeting.

  • Reporting based on your student information system
  • Automatic data refreshes
  • Reports for internal evaluation and accreditation

One application to replace one spreadsheet

Choose a process you currently manage through Excel and email. I turn it into a simple application accessed through the university login.

  • One specific process as the starting point
  • A connection to the system you already use
  • A handover with instructions for your staff

The IRO portal in operation

Already working at one university

At Anglo-American University, eight applications run on data from the student information system. Each tool replaced a spreadsheet, an email chain or manual data entry.

International office

Study abroad applications without retyping

For students

Students sign in with their university account. Their programme, year of study and grade average load automatically. They choose their destinations and submit one clear application. Work in progress is saved.

For staff

Faculties assess applications, the international office makes decisions, and the server enforces deadlines. Documents for the selection committee can be exported. The portal covers Erasmus+ and exchange programmes.

Public study abroad page

Leadership and quality

Data that supports university decisions

Interactive views

Interactive reports cover enrolment, retention, graduation and withdrawals. Users can ask a question in their own words and receive a chart in response.

Reports

The portal includes 14 research reports and more than 20 one-page infographics for university leadership and accreditation.

Surveys and course evaluations

Questionnaires in one place

Students and staff

Students and employees find their questionnaires in one place. Instructors can see response rates for course evaluations.

Anonymity

Names are not linked to responses. Results for groups of fewer than five are not displayed. The rules around anonymity are explained in plain language.

Public page about surveys and data

Student administration and teaching

Tools for specific tasks

Courses and study plans

The course catalogue includes learning outcomes. Another tool transfers study plans from Excel into the student information system.

Student writing

A text-checking tool looks for signs of artificial intelligence use in student writing. It provides material for a conversation with the student, rather than a verdict.

English placement

An English placement test includes assessment. Borderline cases are decided by a person.

Your first project

From conversation to handover

  1. A 20-minute conversation about one process

In a short, no-obligation conversation, we look at one specific process you currently handle through spreadsheets, email or manual data entry.

  2. A small paid pilot

After reviewing a sample of your data, I set a fixed price and scope for the pilot. Before work starts, you know what you are commissioning and what it will cost.

  3. A handover with instructions

I hand over the application with instructions so your university can run it independently. If you want to continue working together, I can provide ongoing operation and development.

How I work

Your system, your data

  • I connect to the system you already have, starting with read-only access.
  • I can connect through Microsoft Graph (university accounts, mail, calendars, files), directly to a database such as PostgreSQL, or through whatever API your system provides.
  • Your data stays with you, on your server or wherever you specify.
  • Personal data protection is part of the work from the start.
  • I use artificial intelligence during development under my own supervision.

About me

Ing. Martin Opatrný

I lead development of the IRO portal at Anglo-American University and the AgroPočasí portal at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. I work from Klatovy as an independent contractor and invoice under my Czech business registration.

Common questions

What to know before we start

We use a different student information system from AAU. Can this work?

Yes, Anglo-American University uses Salesforce, but the same approach applies to other systems. I connect through Microsoft Graph, directly to a database, or through the API your system provides. The first step is to find out how to access your data, through an export or a system interface.

Where will our data be stored?

Your data stays with you. The application can run on your server or wherever you specify.

How much does it cost?

The small paid pilot has a fixed price, agreed after I review a sample of your data. My rate is CZK 1,000 per hour excluding VAT. You receive a written estimate of the hours before work starts.

Can we see it working?

The public parts of the portal are available at https://iro.aauni.edu/, including the study abroad page and information about surveys. I will walk you through the rest when we talk.

Who looks after it once the project is finished?

I hand over the application with instructions so your university can run it independently. If you prefer, I can continue operating it for you.

Contact

Let's look at one specific process

The first conversation takes 20 minutes, with no obligation. Tell me about a process you currently handle through spreadsheets and email, and we can discuss whether it would make a useful small pilot.
